Exhibition of the Association for Art and Culture in the Higher Regional Court

10.06.2022

On June 9, 2022, the President of the Higher Regional Court, Dr. Werner Richter and the chairman of the association for art and culture at the higher regional court Manfred Schmitz-Berg the exhibition of the artist Klaus Lenzen “The special in the everyday”. “I am very pleased that after a two-year break due to corona, we can now again show exhibitions in the Higher Regional Court for our visitors and interested citizens,” said the President of the Higher Regional Court, Dr. Werner Richter.

The Ratinger photographer Klaus Lenzen (born 1953) has been working intensively on photography since 2011. Shapes and colors in urban space are his favorite subject. Frontal perspective, no disturbing backgrounds and the focus solely on the subject characterize his works. He moves to everyday scenes such as construction sites and parking lots, but also in rural areas in search of abstract representations of wrapped straw bales. He describes them as “everyday works of art”, which sometimes only become apparent at second glance. According to the motto “The good is so close”, all exhibited photos were taken in the region, mainly in Düsseldorf, Duisburg and Ratingen.

Numerous of his pictures have been awarded national and international photo prizes.

for example: Sony World Photography Awards, Open Category Winner 2018 und 2021, Prix de la Photographie Paris 2019 Winner Fine Art; SIENA International Photo Awards Category Winner 2019, Minimalist Photographer of the Year Teheran 2019, IPA Fine Art Photographer of the Year New York 2018.

His work has been exhibited at Somerset House London, Aperture Gallery New York and Willy-Brandt-Haus Berlin.

The exhibition can be viewed until September 2nd from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Higher Regional Court building, Cecilienallee 3, 40474 Düsseldorf. Admission is free.
